Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) is an under graduate diploma programme in the medicinal field of Pharmacy which enables a candidate to know the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science
After the completion of D.Pharm course, the candidates become a registered pharmacist and have a huge career scope both in government as well as private organizations.
The duration of the course shall be for 2 academic years with each academic year spread over a period of not less than one hundred and eighty working days in addition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less than 3 months.
What is the course about?
D.Pharm. admission requirements include that applicants must be at least 17 years of age at time of admission, and are required to complete the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or 10+2 exam in the science stream. Required subjects are physics, chemistry and biology or mathematics. A minimum of 40 percent marks are needed in each course. The cost for both B.Pharm. and D.Pharm. is varies based on institution.
Who should go with the course?
Possessing the knowledge of medicines and biology, graduates may perform tasks such as prescribing appropriate medicine to patients (pharmacist), clinical research, work at pharmaceutical companies etc.
Academic options after this course?
Another (more valuable) course is B.Pharm. It is a 4 years long integrated course. This course has much more content and value than the traditional D Pharm course!
Eligibility Of the Bachelor of Science D.Pharm
Science stream students (both Mathematics and Biology groups- PCM/B), who have passed 12th standard board examination from a recognized board are eligible to pursue this course.
